By: CJ Ramsaran

Aubrey “Drake” Graham, soon to be one of Canada’s greatest exports; released his much-anticipated and undoubtedly one of the most favoured albums of 2010 – “Thank Me Later”

With the anticipated release on June 15, 2010 (dubbed Drakeday), fans had begun lining up at various retail store locations to be amongst the first to purchase the much coveted album.

Leading up to the June 15th release, Drake made various promotional appearances.  Stopping in at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC on June 13th; making an in-store appearance at Best Buy in Union Square, NY on June 15th; Drakes final stop was to have been a free concert scheduled later in the day on June 15th at Pier 17, South Street Seaport for 10,000 fans, however, a reportedly large and unruly crowd of 20,000 anxious, impatient, and unruly fans had to be dispersed by authorities before Drake could make his appearance.

“Thank Me Later” was ranked #5 on MTV’s “Top Five Most-Anticipated Rap Debuts”…. and it’s without question that album sales continue to climb.

Some retail stores have completely sold out their inventory, and it’s no wonder, with some fans seen purchasing up to six CD’s at a time.  Sales are expected to reach a phenomenal high, despite the fact the album leaked in its entirety on June 1st, two weeks prior to its scheduled release date.

Some artists grow & develop into great stars; Drake, however, was born a star and shines more brilliant with each passing day.

There really is only one word to describe his musical ability – ingenious!

Drake, we thanked you yesterday, we thank you today, and we most certainly will continue to “thank you later”!
